Spiritual Foundation was established by the renowned Sufi Shaykh Hazrat Syed Muhammad Jilani Ashraf in 1992. The founder belongs to the revered family of Khanwad-e-Ashrafiya (Kichhauchha Sharif, India) who trace their lineage back to Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani (Baghdad, Iraq) up til the Prophet ﷺ. The main purpose of the organisation was to spread the work on spirituality, humanity and morality based on the principles of Tasawwuf (Sufism). Therefore, a global network of spiritual and educational centres were established not only in India but also in many countries of the world, including: UK, Portugal, Canada, South Africa and Mozambique.
Spiritual Foundation as an organisation began in the UK in 1996 but was officially registered in 1999 with Charity Commission. Over the years, the charity has continued its progress in spreading the message of Tasawwuf (Sufism) by establishing an educational institute by the name of Jamia Sufiya (Leicester, UK) in 2013. It has also organised free food and ration distribution in India, UK and South Africa. A yearly Free Medical Camps are organised in India. Symposiums, Seminars, Events, Dialogues and Retreats are conducted to spread the values of Human brotherhood and self-assessment.
